DANBURY, CONN. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has officially kicked off the Spring 2020 season, with membership now totaling sixty-five universities – more than doubling last spring’s membership. Spring competition will involve two hundred and eighty-two teams and over one thousand student athletes competing across eight games – Overwatch, Hearthstone, League of Legends, Rocket League, Fortnite, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, FIFA 20, and Madden 20.
The ECAC welcomes the following new members:

- Bloomfield College (NJ)
- Johnson & Wales University (RI)
- Hood College
- Catawba College
- DeSales University
- Elmira College
- Clarkson University
- Nazareth College
- The Catholic University of America
To support the growing membership, the Conference has now partnered with Collegiate Sports Management Group and Legacy Esports, and has implemented Legacy’s new competition platform called LeagueSpot to manage registration, rosters, seeding, brackets, standing, and day-of match check-in and reporting. Another landmark accomplishment for the ECAC this 2020 season is becoming an official Partner Conference with Riot Games. Seventeen members began their College League of Legends season this past weekend. The Champion of the Conference and will qualify for the College League of Legends National Championship. The Conference Championship will take place on March 21st and 22nd at Gaming Insomniacs in Schenectady, NY. The seventeen schools are: Caldwell University, ECPI University, Keuka College, King University, LIU, Saint Rose College, Rider University, RPI, Sacred Heart University, Saint Francis University, Stevenson University, Stockton University, SUNY Alfred State, SUNY Canton, University at Albany, Thomas College, and Washington College.
Additionally, the ECAC Esports Invitational conducted at HV Gamer Con 2020 will take place on April 4th and 5th in Albany, NY. The tournament and expo is being managed by The ECAC and the Albany Capital Center, with a grant from the State of New York. This event will highlight the Capital Region as a destination for gamers, esport fans and developers alike. The tournament will feature seating for more than 800 spectators to watch the collegiate competition featuring popular esports titles: Overwatch, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Rocket League.

The ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) is an eighty-two-year-old organization with well over 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions – I, II and III.
