DANBURY, Conn. – The ECAC has announced the Esports Players of the Week for the period ending February 21 Presented by Lenovo Legion.
Overwatch Player of the Week – Shane “Weast” Drucker, College of Staten Island
Shane took CSI on this back this week against LIU with over 100,000 blocked damage as Reinhardt, showing off his survivability as well as 3 of the 4 plays of the game showcasing his offensive skills with multiple team wipes to take control of the game.
Overwatch Rookie of the Week – Brayan “Rabbitz” Hurtado, SUNY Canton
Brayan has been promoted to the SUNY Canton Overwatch Varsity team, starting his career in esports at the JV level last semester.
“It’s an honor to be considered for ROTW. Competing in ECAC these last few months has fueled my dedication to the school, the team and the game. The competitive yet friendly community inspires players like me to improve and I look forward to doing my best in future matches as well.” – Rabbitz
Hearthstone Player & Rookie of the Week – Jon “JonnyGoldApple” Scholl, Randolph-Macon College
VALORANT Player of the Week – Justin “Duelest1” Brooks, SUNY Canton
Justin is the captain for SUNY Canton Esports Valorant team. He takes over leadership from Michael Tubbs, who lead the team in their inaugural showing last semester. Justin is one heck of a player and a great leader!

VALORANT Rookie of the Week – Lucas “KiNG” Reyes, Johnson & Wales University
Lucas was one of the star players on our Fall Valorant team and continues to perform in the Spring stepping up to sub in for one of our starting players this past week. His voice inside the game played a pivotal role in the teams victory over SUNY Poly.

Rocket League Player of the Week – Josh ” “twst.” Schibley, University of Mount Union
Josh is the type of player that makes an impact every second he’s on the map. Whether it’s offense, defense, passing plays, solo out-plays, Josh is gamewrecker. He put up a dominating performance in game 2 of the set vs Bethel in which he scored 1038 total points with 5 goals, 3 assists, 1 save and 8 shots.
“The team has been going really solid. We had a rough first couple week because we were starting a new player, but it proved to work out really well. We’re feeling really good about the team and the rest of the season now. It feels really good to be selected because it feels like the work I have been putting in is finally noticed, especially after spending 3,000 hours in the game.” – twst.
Rocket League Rookie of the Week – Jackson “Stoops” Harris, Johnson & Wales University
Jackson is new to RL Blue but has already helped lead the team to a 3-0 start on the season. Him and his teammates tend to work with his more quiet approach yet Jackson loves to push his team with some momentum plays that lead to their most recent reverse sweep victory over Farmingdale.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Player of the Week – Tyler “Chair” DellaFera, Central Connecticut State University
Chair put on a truly remarkable for CCSU against SUNY Poly this week, taking a total of 16 stocks, including all 9 in game 2, in the straight set victory for Central. With his Bowser, he was able to cleanly sweep Wildcats C with a dominating advantage state and neutral he was able to continuously apply pressure.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Rookie of the Week – Jeremiah “Greenfinch” Czyz, Elmira College
Jeremiah was able to put up a strong performance in both rounds this week, including eliminating seven stocks from our opponents in round two to put the team in a position to win.

Madden 21 Player & Rookie of the Week – Jeremiah “Emphatic Coder1” Ayisah-Quaye Johnson & Wales University
Jeremiah is quoted as saying “I’m telling you that first week was a set back but I came back in weeks 2 and 3 and I’m not stopping anytime soon. That’s a PROMISE.” That is the mentality of a winning student regardless of record. After shutting out his opponent in week 3 (30-0, 21-0), Emphatic is continuing to climb the Madden ranks in the ECAC.

FIFA 21 Player & Rookie of the Week – Oscar “Driftking072” Sanchez-Gomez, John Jay College
Oscar won all his games up so far this season at 3-0. This week he scored double digits in goals totaling 13 goals and allowing only five.
“It is an absolute honor to be chosen to be the rookie of the week for week 3 and the first rookie in John Jay’s history. I joined the team because I thought it would a fun way to test my skills and it has been great. I’m an currently 3-0 and I hope to continue being unbeaten.” – Driftking072
League Of Legends Player of the Week – Matthew “MattRuss224” Russell, Long Island University
With their backs against the wall, and facing elimination from playoff contention, Matthew Russell stepped up big for the Sharks this past weekend. In the first game, Russell answered the call, going 11/2/5 carrying the game out from the top lane dealing 42% of the damage teams damage on Mordekaiser. He also averaged 7.4 CS/min. In the second game of the best of three series, Matt was to draw pressure from CMU’s jungler, again having an impressive KDA of three, while also dealing 32% of all team damage, while average 7.5 CS/min.
League Of Legends Rookie of the Week – Jennifer “Jennypenny1014” Isler, SUNY Empire
