DANBURY, Conn. – The ECAC has announced the Esports Players of the Week for the period ending March 7 Presented by Lenovo Legion.
Overwatch Rookie of the Week – Stephen “Stepheo” Swenson, Johnson & Wales University
Stephen is one of the most dedicated students I’ve had at Johnson and Wales. He has always been attentive to the teams needs and been able to adjust to their needs whether it is support or tank. Stephen has been a huge asset to the program and I can’t wait to see his progress in the next 3 years.

Hearthstone Player of the Week – Adam “Clar3nce” Hammerale, Johnson & Wales University
Adam continues to perform in the ECAC as he lead the team to a 3-2 victory over in-state rival Bryant this week. Adam, piloting his favorite decks, continues to perform even though the decks are not considered the “top” tier for Hearthstone.
Hearthstone Rookie of the Week – Spencer “PieMonster” Mah, Johnson & Wales University
As the captain of the hearthstone team, Spencer continues to host and progress his fellow teammates, Adam and Dustin, to new heights as they continue to improve their records. Spencer is balancing a ton of responsibilities but continues to be dedicated to the esports program.
VALORANT Player & Rookie of the Week – Tyler “Reno” Dacosta, Post University
Reno stepped up in a big way for us against Roger Williams racking up 32 kills and 9 assists with only 11 deaths over 28 rounds, RWU’s attacks on Bind were consistently snuffed out by Reno’s suffocating traps on Cypher.
“I just want to thank the team for putting me in the positions to get the job done. Threthon and I had great synergy on defense allowing me to make plays that were crucial for the team. Jobs not done yet though.” – Reno
Rocket League Player of the Week – Michael “RickityRoll” Scardigno, University of Hartford
He scored 11 goals on 22 shots, giving UHart a 3-0 series sweep over Saint Francis University, including 5 in a decisive game 1 victory.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Player of the Week – Ka-Shawn “Kasp3r” Seward, The College of Saint Rose
Kasp3r took the role of the janitor for The College of St. Rose and took all 18 stocks in the week 5 match-up. He started his set with Sonic and 3 stocks, losing one stock to his second opponent, and then only one more to his third opponent – taking the first set solo. After clutching up once, he did it again with Dark Pit. Not only was he able to pull off another sweep but he finished it in a major style.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Rookie of the Week – Patrick “Tezlik” Fallon, The College of Saint Rose
“Credit to my teammates for getting us this far, I usually just run the stream and play melee.” – Tezlik
FIFA 21 Player & Rookie of the Week – Jake “JChap_YT” Chapman – University of Hartford
Jake maintained his perfect 5-0 record in ECAC with a 2-0 series sweep over the University of Albany. He has dropped just a single game in 5 weeks of league play.

Madden 21 Player and Rookie of the Week – Rocco “TTV_RonnieVee” Veltri, Southern Connecticut State University
In Rocco’s first game of his week 5 match-up, he lost 32-14. He wasn’t sure if he had a chance in the next game because he couldn’t stop the run. In the second game, it was close the whole way through but he got an interception in the 4th and then stopped his opponent at the goal line with 30 seconds left to secure the victory. In the 3rd game, he was up 3 with 1 minute left in the 4th and shot the gap when his opponent ran the ball, hit sticked him, caused a fumble, and ended up winning 17-14.
Rocco is currently 5-0 and is in first place in the league.
